Frame A illustrates the lava flow susceptibility at Nyiragongo volcano. The outlines of the 2002 (black line) and 2021 (hashed rectangles) lava flows of Nyiragongo volcano are superimposed on the lava flow susceptibility map in frame B. Frame C provides a zoom for the densely populated area of Goma and Gisenyi (black lines). Class boundaries are defined by susceptibility percentiles. Absolute susceptibility values for each class boundary are as follows: 0th perc. (2.4 10-16); 40th perc. (7.1 10-9); 80th perc. (4.1 10-7); 95th perc. (3.8 10-6); 98th perc. (1.0 10-5); 100th perc. (2.5 10-4)
